Guyana secures silver medal at Women’s CBC

Guyana’s storybook championship dream exploded into reality on Sunday night as the euphoric hosts delivered a nail-biting 83–74 victory over Jamaica at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, catapulting the nation into the 2026 CentroBasket Women’s Championship with breathtaking heroics and championship-defining excellence.
The electrifying triumph secured Guyana the silver medal with a stellar 3–1 record, capping off an unforgettable campaign fuelled by a deafening home crowd and high-level performances when the stakes were at their highest. After a tightly contested first half that left the outcome finely poised, the hosts seized control in the decisive second half, with Ruth Adams and Joy Brown combining for a devastating offensive surge that proved unstoppable for the Jamaican challengers.
Adams delivered a sensational 24-point performance, orchestrating Guyana’s medal-clinching push with precision and composure, while Brown unleashed a phenomenal double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds, dominating the glass and disrupting Jamaica’s interior offence.
Tiffany Reynolds mounted a spirited response for Jamaica with an impressive 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists, but her valiant effort ultimately fell short against Guyana’s relentless two-way execution and poise under pressure.
The historic victory secured Guyana’s qualification for the prestigious CentroBasket tournament, cementing their place among the Caribbean’s basketball elite and delivering a momentous triumph on home soil that will resonate across the nation.
