Toddler drowns in Queenstown trench

Tragedy struck Queenstown Village, Essequibo Coast, on Monday when a one-year-nine-month-old boy, identified as Devon Walker, drowned in a trench near his home around 17:30 hours.

Reports indicate that the toddler had wandered off unnoticed before being found motionless in the nearby trench. Despite desperate efforts by residents to save him, he was pronounced dead.

Several residents, upon hearing cries for help, rushed to the scene but were unable to prevent the tragedy.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
