GOAL brings new educational pathways to Region Two

Dozens of residents from across Region Two gathered at the Anna Regina Secondary School on Saturday as the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) hosted an outreach aimed at assisting persons to apply for the Government of Guyana’s fully funded online programmes.

The outreach coincided with the reopening of the GOAL application portal for the 2026 academic year, giving residents the opportunity to apply for a range of local and international programmes at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree levels. Among the fields of study available are education, nursing, business, logistics, public health, and data science.

Applications can be made via the GOAL website at https://portal.goalapplication.com. The application period runs from November 5 to December 31, 2025.

During the event, Regional Chairman Mr Devin Mohan encouraged attendees to seize the chance to further their education, noting that the government continues to invest in programmes that uplift citizens through learning.

“Education is the key to empowerment. Through GOAL, residents can acquire the qualifications needed to build better futures for themselves and their communities. The opportunity is here—make use of it,” Mohan said.

He also lauded the GOAL team for their dedication in ensuring that residents of Region Two benefit equally from national opportunities for advancement.

Programme Manager Mr Rubesh Raul Ganpat explained that the exercise was conducted in partnership with the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) and the Department of Education, providing applicants with step-by-step guidance to complete their submissions successfully.

Ganpat highlighted two important options for individuals without CSEC passes in Mathematics or English — the US High School Diploma and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) programmes. These certifications are internationally recognised and allow students to progress to higher levels of study, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

“GOAL provides a pathway for everyone. You can begin with a certificate, then move on to a diploma or degree. No one is left behind,” Ganpat emphasised.

The event saw several participants completing their applications on-site, with many expressing appreciation for the support and encouragement received from the GOAL team.
