Police are investigating the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Faynel Brewster, who was killed late Sunday night during an attempted robbery at her West Ruimveldt, Georgetown home.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred around 23:00 hrs on October 19, when Brewster was in the yard of her residence as her brother, a 31-year-old businessman, arrived home on his black XR motorcycle. He was reportedly confronted by two identifiable men, one armed with a handgun, who attempted to rob him of his motorcycle and gold chains.
A scuffle broke out between the suspects and the brother, during which the armed man discharged several rounds. Brewster, who was standing nearby, was struck by two bullets—one to her upper right arm and another to her lower left chest.
She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspects fled the scene on a black XR motorcycle heading north, without taking any property.
Crime Scene Unit investigators recovered a 9mm spent shell from the scene, and police are reviewing CCTV footage as efforts continue to locate the suspects.
Investigations are ongoing.
