She was accompanied by Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit, Regional Executive Officer Susanah Saywack, and Regional Engineer Kawan Suchit. Representatives from the contracting firm, Builders Hardware, were also on site.

According to the project’s consultant, Kalitech Inc., represented by Engineer Jeremin Brumell, the $1.7 billion project is 40 per cent completed.

Minister Sukhai reminded the contractor of the need to meet the project’s deadline, stressing that timely completion is vital since students are currently attending classes on a shift system.

During her walkthrough, the minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the project aligns with the government’s commitment to improving educational facilities nationwide. She stated that the new Cotton Field Secondary will offer students a modern and well-equipped learning environment, fostering access to quality education.

Minister Sukhai noted that this is the second secondary school being reconstructed in Region Two, following Abram Zuil Secondary. She also highlighted that all primary and nursery schools in the region have been rehabilitated, and over $100 million has been invested in dormitory upgrades.

She assured that regular monitoring and follow-up visits will continue to ensure the project’s successful and timely completion.
