Indian Cultural Troupe to showcase Brajbhoomi traditions in Guyana during Deepawali

As part of the Bilateral Cultural Exchange Agreement signed during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Guyana in November 2024, a cultural troupe from India will embark on a goodwill tour to Guyana to coincide with Deepawali celebrations.

The troupe, sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), will present the folk culture of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, regions from which many Guyanese trace their ancestral roots. Performances will highlight the rich heritage of Brajbhoomi (the Braj region) through traditional dance and music, offering audiences a glimpse into India’s vibrant cultural treasures.

Officials expressed gratitude to the ICCR, the Government of Guyana, and local partners for supporting initiatives that strengthen people-to-people ties and promote cultural understanding between the two nations.

This cultural exchange aims to celebrate shared heritage and reinforce the bonds between Guyana and India, providing an opportunity for Guyanese to experience the traditions of their ancestral homelands firsthand.
