Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Hon. Madanlall Ricky Ramraj, on Saturday conducted an inspection of the Capoey Bridge Project to assess the progress of ongoing works.
He was accompanied by Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, the Regional Executive Officer, Regional Agriculture Coordinator, Regional Engineer, and other regional officials.
During the visit, Minister Ramraj met with the project contractor, who provided an update on the status of the works. According to the engineer, the bridge is approximately 70 percent complete and remains on schedule for completion by November 17, 2025.
Minister Ramraj underscored the importance of maintaining high-quality standards and reminded the contractor of the project’s completion timeline. He noted that the Capoey Bridge serves as a vital link for residents accessing the community, the Capoey Lake Resort, and nearby sandpits—highlighting its importance to both daily life and local economic activity.
The project forms part of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and living standards within Amerindian communities across Guyana. It is expected to support sustainable development, improve economic opportunities, and provide easier access for residents of Capoey and surrounding areas.
