The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has launched a new program aimed at improving athlete welfare and long-term career development in Guyana. The initiative, led by Minister within the Ministry, Steven Jacobs, follows a series of discussions with prominent current and former national athletes.
Minister Jacobs stressed that investing in athletes is as important as building infrastructure, highlighting the initiative’s role in fostering a sustainable sporting future and supporting the growth of sports tourism in the country.
Athletes in attendance expressed their support and shared insights from their own experiences to help shape the program. The Ministry recognized the expertise and dedication of these national representatives as key to strengthening Guyana’s sports sector.
