
The Government of Guyana has finalised plans with the Qatar Red Crescent Society for the 2025 Medical Convoys Mission, aimed at providing specialised medical care and building local capacity in the health sector.
Today, the Honourable Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, met with officials from the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the Embassy of the State of Qatar to confirm arrangements for the mission, which will be carried out at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The initiative will provide advanced medical consultations and surgical procedures that are currently not available locally. Beyond direct treatment, the mission focuses on capacity building through knowledge transfer and technical training for local healthcare professionals, strengthening Guyana’s national health system.
Leading the Qatar delegation were H.E. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Rumanihi, Chargé d’Affaires; Mr. Yousef Ahmad Y. A. Al-Mulla of the Qatar Fund for Development; and H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Beshr.
From the Guyanese side, the meeting included GPHC CEO Mr. Robbie Rambarran and Director of Medical & Professional Services, Dr. Navindranauth Rambaran.
The 2025 Qatar Red Crescent Medical Mission represents a continued partnership between Guyana and Qatar to enhance healthcare access, training, and infrastructure for the local population.
