Law enforcement authorities have finally apprehended a convicted human trafficker who had been evading capture for over two years.

Tito Browne, 45, also known by the aliases “Tommy” and “Yankee,” was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. His arrest came as a result of a targeted intelligence-driven operation, shortly after his arrival back in Guyana.

Browne had been convicted in March 2023 for trafficking two Jamaican nationals and was sentenced to two consecutive four-year prison terms.

He also received an additional one-year sentence for unlawfully retaining the victims’ travel documents.

Alongside the prison sentences, the court imposed a $200,000 fine and ordered Browne to pay $6.3 million in restitution to the victims.

Initially detained on April 28, 2021, Browne had been remanded on human trafficking charges.

However, after being granted bail by the High Court, he fled the country before the case reached its conclusion.

According to sources close to the investigation, police are currently in the process of securing a warrant to officially recommit Browne to prison.
