The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) is expanding its national reach with its first-ever drag racing event in Berbice on October 12. The initiative aims to decentralize motorsport and bring high-speed racing to the “Ancient County.”

The event will be held at the Rose Hall Canjie Airstrip, featuring top racing machines in a quarter-mile showdown, starting at 10:00 AM. GMR&SC Vice President Mohamed Shiraz Roshandin said the event comes in response to long-standing requests from the Berbice community.

Securing a suitable venue posed challenges, with safety and spectator visibility being key considerations. After careful planning, the Rose Hall Canjie Airstrip was selected, and club officials will conduct final safety checks later this week.

The turnout for this debut event will be closely watched, as its success could secure a permanent spot on the GMR&SC calendar. Tickets will be sold at the gate, priced at $2,000 for adults and $1,000 for children.
