Regional stakeholders will convene today and tomorrow in Barbados for the latest meeting of the Regional Advisory Group (RAG), tasked with reviewing the draft CARICOM Migration Policy Framework (CMPF).

The two-day consultation, organized by the CARICOM Secretariat with support from the UN Network for Migration, forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration on migration governance. The process is guided by the principles of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and is directly linked to CARICOM’s broader development vision.

The CMPF is being developed to provide a structured, inclusive, and rights-based approach to migration management across the Caribbean, focusing on mobility, integration, protection, and sustainable development. By engaging regional experts, government representatives, and development partners, the framework seeks to ensure that migration policies reflect both local realities and international best practices.

Funding for the Advisory Group meeting and associated activities has been provided by the European Union through its “Building Migration Partnerships” initiative, as well as by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The outcomes of this week’s consultations will help shape a policy framework that supports inclusive growth, regional cooperation, and safe, orderly, and regular migration across CARICOM member states.
