Over the past two weeks, the Ministry of Education, through the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) IT Unit, conducted Robotics and STEAM training for Grade 4 teachers in Regions 2, 5, 8, and 10.
The training equipped teachers with practical, hands-on skills in the use of robotics kits, creative STEAM activities, and Scratch programming.

Teachers are now prepared to introduce these tools and concepts to their students, enabling more than 1,400 Grade 4 students across coastal and hinterland schools to explore robotics and coding for the first time.

Through this initiative, students will have opportunities to develop problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
The programme also represents a step towards bridging the digital divide in Guyana’s education system and preparing children for a future increasingly influenced by technology and innovation.

The Ministry of Education has emphasized that initiatives like this are part of its broader effort to integrate digital literacy and STEM education into primary schooling, ensuring students gain practical skills that will support their learning and future careers.
