Thirty-six young people were awarded certificates of completion on Sunday, after participating in a workshop on public speaking, hosting and protocols, hosted by The Imperial House in collaboration with the High Commission of Belize.

The event was held at the World Trade Center Georgetown.

The workshop catered to persons interested in public speaking, event hosting, broadcasting, and strengthening their public relations skills.

It featured presentations from Her Excellency Gail Miller Garnett, Belize’s High Commissioner to Guyana; communications specialist Janelle Persaud; speech and diction trainer Anita Ramprasad; broadcaster Travis Bruce; protocol expert Safraz Yacoob; and Ambassador Lisa Shoman, General Counsel to the CARICOM Secretariat.

Throughout the sessions, participants learned about effective communication, confidence-building, speech and diction, body language, radio and television interviews, panel discussions, hosting and moderating events, and the proper use of protocols in professional and diplomatic settings.

Ambassador Shoman also shared insights on etiquette and diplomacy at the regional and international level.

Organizers noted that the workshop was more than just a skills-development session.

Attendees had the opportunity to network with each other and with the facilitators, while also receiving tokens from the Belize High Commission and information on mentorship programmes.

The event was described as a successful knowledge exchange that brought together industry leaders and aspiring professionals.

The High Commission of Belize and The Imperial House expressed appreciation to the facilitators for volunteering their time and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting similar initiatives in the future.
