ExxonMobil Guyana and its contractors have spent over US$2.9 billion with local businesses since beginning operations in 2015, the company said, highlighting its continued support for local content development.

In the first half of 2025 alone, US$419 million was spent directly with 1,800 Guyanese vendors, covering investments in workforce training, community initiatives, and industrial capabilities. This year also marked the start of in-country fabrication at the Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Inc. (VEHSI), including the production of quad joints and Pipeline End Terminations (PLETs).

As of mid-2025, more than 6,200 Guyanese, representing 70 per cent of the workforce, are employed by ExxonMobil Guyana and its contractors. About one-third of employees are women, and 1,800 work offshore. Oil-and-gas staff have received over 370,000 hours of leadership, technical, and health, safety, and security training.

“Seeing more Guyanese take on key roles in the oil-and-gas industry is a clear sign that our commitment to capacity building is working,” said Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana.

The company also supports the Guyana Technical Training College Inc. (GTTCI), which will train its first cohort locally starting in October 2025. ExxonMobil’s internship programme has already led to permanent hires, with the 2025 cycle currently ongoing.
