It is the 14th park commissioned by First Lady Arya Ali since the initiative was launched four years ago. The facility features slides, swings and climbing structures for children, along with sanitary facilities, gazebos and lighting. The park is also designed to be accessible for children with wheelchairs.

Delivering the feature address, Ali said the park was created as a space for children and families to spend time together. She urged residents not to consume alcohol at the facility.

“This is a safe space for our children, for our parents, for our families, for our elderly. I would like to urge all of you, do not come here to indulge in alcohol, because this is a safe space for our children. Let us be mindful and not let our children be exposed to any harm,” she said.

The initiative is also expected to create jobs for locals, with vendors sourced from the community and a management team being set up to maintain the park.

Families welcomed the milestone. Mala Samsoondar, a mother of three, told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that such a facility had never existed in the community or along the East Coast corridor.

“This means a lot to families here, especially the children, who now have a space to come out and have fun,” she said.
