
The Junior Lady Jags received a warm welcome on their return home, celebrated with an award ceremony at the National Training Centre that was attended by parents, coaching staff, and officials of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).
The team delivered an impressive performance in the 2025 CFU U-14 Girls Challenge Series, remaining unbeaten in the group stage and advancing to the semifinals, where they fell narrowly to French Guiana in a penalty shootout.
GFF General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay praised the players’ commitment and spirit, describing their achievement as a significant milestone for women’s football in Guyana. He expressed appreciation for their representation on the international stage and reaffirmed the GFF’s dedication to their continued development, noting his hope that many will progress to the Senior Women’s National Team.
Richard DeNobrega of Blue Water Shipping also extended congratulations, underscoring the company’s longstanding support for women’s football, particularly through its sponsorship of the U-15 Blue Water Secondary Girls Inter-School Championship.
The ceremony not only celebrated the team’s accomplishments but also highlighted the importance of creating structured pathways for young female footballers, ensuring their international experiences become stepping stones to future success.
