The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) on Wednesday suspended all outbound parcels and packages to the United States with immediate effect, citing the end of a US duty-free exemption for low-value imports.
The decision follows the suspension of the de minimis exemption, which had allowed goods valued under US$800 to enter the United States duty-free.
“GPOC will continue to facilitate the shipment of letters and documents to the Unites States,” the corporation said in a release.
The new policy, enacted as Executive Order 14324 by the United States, mandates that all international parcels, regardless of value, are subject to US import duties. It takes effect from August 29, 2025.
The GPOC said it will also stop accepting packages to countries whose shipments transit through the United States.

“This includes packages being sent to Australia, Grand Cayman, New Zealand, Turks and Caicos, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Guatemala, Honduras, and Paraguay,” the release said.
The corporation added that further updates will be provided through its official communication channels.
