Modern waterfront market for New Amsterdam

For decades, the New Amsterdam Market has been the beating heart of the town’s commerce — a bustling hub for vendors and shoppers alike. But over time, the once-thriving space has fallen behind modern needs, prompting calls for a major transformation.

On Monday evening, speaking before thousands of residents, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali announced that the time has come to give the market “a new lease on life” — unveiling plans for a state-of-the-art, waterfront facility.

President Ali assured the gathering that a PPP/C victory in the upcoming elections would fast-track the project, even though the current market is under the control of the APNU+AFC Town Council.

“My friends,” the President declared, “do not give the Naysayers victory by not giving the PPP/Civic your vote. They believe they have New Amsterdam locked — but we will unlock that outdated padlock, throw it away, and open the gates of freedom with your vote.”

Vowing to “take the bull by the horns,” the Head of State promised a cleaner, more vibrant market space to benefit every resident and business owner.

“We are breaking free and building back that market into a modern waterfront,” Ali said, assuring that no local council will be able to block the development. “They will use the council this time to stop us. You’re electing a government that will stop them from stopping the developments. My friends, I am passionate tonight because I know, I know that we have poured our heart out for every region. New Amsterdam was not excluded.”

He urged all residents to seize the moment on September 1 and vote for progress.
