Norton outlines big plans for Region 10

The A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) took its election campaign to Linden, pledging development in agriculture, housing, education, and infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, held in Wismar, the party’s presidential candidate, Aubrey Norton, outlined several plans APNU intends to implement if elected—initiatives he said would benefit Linden and Region Ten as a whole.

“Lindeners will benefit from both mortgage systems and rental systems. Linden, like all parts of Guyana, will benefit from a school transportation system so that our children can be taken to school,” Norton said.

He also promised to eradicate poverty and deliver quality roads, adding that APNU wants the people of Linden to enjoy a better quality of life.

“You in Linden can look forward to significant development under the APNU. Agriculture will develop. We will ensure sustainable agriculture in Region 10. If people have to feed you from afar, you will be dependent on them. But once we create the conditions and provide the lands, you can feed yourself and be independent,” Norton stated.

He noted that Linden has the potential to develop industries beyond bauxite but stressed the need for affordable electricity, pledging to work to keep rates low.

Norton also promised a network of early childhood development facilities, building on an existing learning centre introduced by the party to support single mothers. He further noted that APNU also aims to provide quality development for the people of Guyana, as he reflected on past developments achieved by the party during its last tenure between 2015 and 2020.
