Quentin Sampson once again shone in a crucial match, leading the Titans All-Stars to a title repeat at the third Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast, in the final held on Sunday at the National Stadium in Providence.
The defending champions faced off against the inaugural champions, Eccles All-Stars, clinching victory by 71 runs. Sampson’s outstanding performance included an unbeaten 88 runs off just 30 balls, featuring 11 sixes and three fours, which anchored the Titans’ total of 142 for 2 in their allotted ten overs.
Eccles struggled in their run chase, losing their key player Quazim Yusuf for no runs early on, and they found it difficult to recover. Oscar Joseph was the only player to reach double figures, scoring 24 not out, as the Titans’ bowlers, including Sampson (2-9), Keemo Paul (2-12), and Paul Wintz (2-12), effectively dismantled the opposition’s batting line-up.
For his exceptional contributions, Sampson was awarded the Most Valuable Player prize for the second consecutive year, which included a motorbike and $150,000 from Regal Stationery and Computer Centre. He also received additional rewards for his achievements in the tournament, including $100,000 for taking 13 wickets, and $75,000 and a trophy for being named Player of the Final. Meanwhile, Yusuf was recognised for scoring the most runs in the tournament, totalling 282, earning him $100,000 and a television.
The Titans took home a total of $2 million in prize money, while Eccles received $1 million.
