Berbice trio remanded for armed robbery

Three Berbice men have been remanded to prison after being charged with Robbery Under Arms in connection with a violent incident involving a female victim, Ramona Crawford.
The accused are identified as Delroy Parks, 42, a labourer of Lot 50 Cromarty Village, Corentyne, Berbice; Amzad Ally, 30, a taxi driver of No. 70 Village, Corentyne, Berbice; and Antwan Kyte, 34, a security guard of Lot 45 (B) Dukestown, Corriverton, Berbice. They were arraigned at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 22, 2025.
The trio was charged under Section 222(c) of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01. The charge stems from a robbery that occurred earlier this month.
During the court hearing before Her Worship, Magistrate Tuanna Hardy, the men were not required to plead to the indictable charge and were remanded to prison pending further proceedings.
Investigators made a breakthrough in the case on Sunday, July 20, when Detective Corporal Austin of the Springlands Police CID interviewed Ally, who allegedly confessed to his involvement in the robbery plot.
According to police, Ally admitted to being hired by Parks and Kyte to drive them to No. 58 Village to commit the robbery and later retrieve them.
In his statement to the detective, Ally said, “Sir, meh get something fi tell yo, last night Parks and Turtle hire meh fi drop them off at No. 58 Village fi robb them people and to pick them up back, and Parks geh meh a small gun fi stash and meh go and stashed it in meh washing machine under meh house, Sir meh gan carry yo fi de gun.”
Following this confession, detectives—including Sergeant Fraser, Corporals Austin, George, Mitchell, Chapman, and Constables Butters and Cadogan—accompanied Ally to his residence. There, he directed them to a small white washing machine under his house. Inside, officers recovered a suspected .32 pistol with a magazine containing five live rounds.
Upon the discovery, Ally reportedly said, “Officer is keep I keeping the gun fi them.”
The area was photographed for evidence, and both Ally and the firearm were taken to the Springlands Police Station. The gun and ammunition were secured in the presence of the suspect and officially lodged.
