Murder suspect Shaka Phillips, called “Concrete Man” of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has confessed to investigators that he shot and killed his child-mother, Jenel Pollydore.

Phillips, 21, was arrested yesterday and admitted to investigators that on July 19, 2025, he had been calling Jenel’s mobile phone, but she was not answering. He further stated that as a result, he went to the R&R Hotel in Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, where a wedding reception was being held, and saw Jenel speaking to a male individual.

Phillips said he confronted her and asked why she was not answering his calls, and an argument ensued. The suspect stated that he became upset, took a firearm from his shoulder bag, and shot her. He claimed that Jenel ran into the hotel yard, and he pursued her, shooting her again. Upon seeing her fall to the ground, he fled the scene, rode away on a bicycle, and went into hiding in Amelia’s Ward.

Police said he told investigators that he later went to Adams Boat Landing and disposed of the firearm by throwing it into the Demerara River. He was taken back to both the scene of the shooting and the location where he claimed to have discarded the weapon. However, due to yesterday’s spring tide, investigators were unable to conduct a search for the gun.

The interview with the suspect was both video and audio recorded. Statements were also obtained from eyewitnesses as investigations continue.

Jenel, 26, is survived by her three children, close family members, and friends.
