The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has confirmed that all preparations are in place for Nomination Day, scheduled for Monday, 14 July 2025, at the Umana Yana in Kingston, Georgetown. The nomination window will be open from 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs.
Nomination Day marks a key milestone in the electoral calendar, as political parties formally submit their lists of candidates contesting the upcoming General and Regional Elections, set for 1 September 2025.
GECOM said it is coordinating all logistical and procedural arrangements to ensure a smooth, transparent and inclusive nomination process, in accordance with legal guidelines. Political parties were reminded to submit their nomination lists within the designated period, as outlined in the General Notice issued on 22 June.
The Chief Election Officer will be present to accept submissions, verify documents, and provide clarification where necessary. Once a complete nomination package is submitted, GECOM will issue a formal acknowledgment.
The Commission emphasised that the process will follow strict electoral protocols, including the order of arrival, document verification, and coordination among stakeholders. GECOM urged all political parties and their supporters to respect the established rules and protocols.
To ensure a peaceful and dignified environment, GECOM is appealing to all participants to respect the democratic process and promote orderly conduct throughout the day.
