Antwone Campbell, also known as “Antone,” and Rayon Frank, called “Fearless,” both of Number 40 Village, West Coast Berbice have been remanded to prison for the brutal murder of 18-year-old Jerroy Gordon of Litchfield Village.

They both appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the Fort Wellington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. They are accused of killing Gordon on the night of Thursday, July 3rd, in Number 40 Village.

The charge was read to the men, but as is customary with indictable offences, they were not required to enter a plea.

Magistrate Matthias emphasised the severity of the charge and remanded both accused to prison.

The matter has been transferred to the Weldaad Magistrates’ Court and will continue on August 8th.

According to police reports, Jerroy and his 16-year-old brother Jerry were riding home on a motorcycle around 9:30 PM after purchasing food when they were ambushed near their home. Jerry told investigators that a man ran across the road with a rope, causing them to crash.

As they fell to the ground, a group of men armed with cutlasses charged at them.

In fear, Jerry fled to Litchfield to get help and later returned to find his brother badly injured.

Jerroy was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He had sustained a deep wound to the neck and several other injuries.
