The Safe Haven mobile application was officially launched today, giving families across the country access to a growing network of certified childcare and elder-care providers. More than just a digital tool, Safe Haven is a long-awaited solution to a nationwide gap in trusted, affordable, and verifiable caregiving services.
The app allows users to search, book, and securely pay for caregiving services all in one place. Whether it’s a parent needing part-time support, a family member caring for an elderly relative, or a caregiver looking for stable, structured work, Safe Haven is designed to meet real-life needs.
At the heart of the platform is a commitment to safety and transparency. Every caregiver listed on Safe Haven is screened with police clearance, reference checks, and required certification. Users can browse caregiver profiles, check qualifications, view availability, and confirm bookings using Mobile Money Guyana (MMG), a groundbreaking move for ease of payment in this sector.
“Today is a really proud moment for me and the Safe Haven team,” said Co-Founder Angenie Abel at the launch event.
“This idea came from personal experience — times when my family needed trusted care and couldn’t find it. Safe Haven was born to fill that gap with an option that’s safe, accessible, and built for Guyanese families.”
The app’s integration with MMG solves a major hurdle previously faced by both clients and caregivers: secure, cashless transactions. Families can now complete the entire process — from browsing to booking to payment — without needing to leave the app.
“A major hurdle was payment,” Abel added. Noting that “There just wasn’t a user-friendly digital solution. Now, with MMG integrated, clients can search, book, and pay securely from their phones. Safety is everything; no caregiver appears on Safe Haven without full screening.”
Safe Haven also functions as a professional platform for caregivers, offering job listings, a structured onboarding process, and exposure to a wider client base than traditional word-of-mouth arrangements. According to Abel, the platform is also exploring partnerships with training institutions and initiatives like WIND (Women’s Innovation and Investment Network) to expand job opportunities for trained women.
The Safe Haven app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Caregivers interested in joining the platform can visit www.safehavengy.com to apply, upload documents, and learn more about certification requirements.
With plans already underway to expand service categories and partner with more government-backed workforce programmes, the team behind Safe Haven is focused on one mission: creating a reliable caregiving ecosystem built on trust, technology, and inclusion.
