Senior Superintendent Himnauth Sawh sent on administrative leave

Senior Superintendent Himnauth Sawh has been sent on administrative leave following sanctions imposed by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, which cited him for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The Guyana Police Force in a release said it has taken note of the report issued today by the US Department of the Treasury, which named four Guyanese nationals, including Senior Superintendent Sawh.

In keeping with the Guyana Police Force’s Standard Operating Procedure, the decision was taken to place him on leave with immediate effect, the release noted.

Senior Superintendent Sawh joined the GPF on 3 June 2008. His most recent posting was at the Force’s Projects Office.
