National clean-up exercise set for Sunday

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) has called for nationwide participation in another ambitious national clean-up exercise, slated for Sunday.
The initiative marks the 10th countrywide clean-up campaign to take place across the nation’s ten regions.
A statement from the PSC said the exercise is expected to commence at 6:00 am. Citizens, private sector companies, and business leaders are encouraged to play their part by actively participating in this important event.
The Commission especially invited its members to mobilise their teams, provide logistical support where possible, and help lead the charge in this civic mission.
The PSC stated that this 10th clean-up exercise is a clear reminder that all must work toward long-term behavioural change. While clean-up campaigns are necessary, the ultimate goal must be to foster a culture of cleanliness where such large-scale efforts are no longer needed.
“We therefore call on all stakeholders to promote ongoing awareness and continuous action to keep our surroundings clean, not just on 8 June, but every day,” the PSC said.
The agency emphasised that keeping Guyana clean is not only about aesthetics, but also about national pride, environmental sustainability, public health, and protecting the country’s tourism and investment potential.
The Commission noted that its member companies and Business Support Organisations in all regions will participate in the initiative. This collective nationwide mobilisation demonstrates the strength and united stance of the private sector community and its commitment to building a cleaner Guyana.
The Commission has therefore urged all citizens to join them in unity and purpose to ensure a cleaner and greener Guyana.
