The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is exploring developmental partnerships with the American Petroleum Institute (API).
During the Offshore Technology Conference 2025, the chamber’s delegation met with API officials on Monday to discuss potential collaborations.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for Guyanese companies to engage with API representatives, gaining insights into how they can leverage API’s services for their respective organizations.
The delegation was led by GCCI’s President, Kathy Smith, and Senior Vice President, Gavin Ramsoondar. They met with API’s Director of Global Business Development, Alejandro Di Nunzio, and Chief Representative for Latin America, Africa, and Portugal, Delma Quintanilha.
API, with nearly 600 members, represents all segments of the United States’ natural gas and oil industry. Its members are involved in the production, processing, and distribution of the majority of the nation’s energy.
As a standards-setting organisation, API has developed more than 800 standards designed to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency, and sustainability. For nearly a century, the institute has been at the forefront of developing globally recognised standards for petroleum, natural gas, and petrochemical equipment and operations, frequently cited by international regulatory bodies.
