The Guyana Police Force notes with deep concern a Facebook post made by Mr. Nigel Hughes, in which he claimed to have information suggesting that certain individuals and organisations are planning to disrupt the funeral proceedings of Adrianna Younge and instigate violence.
The Police Force has made several attempts to contact Mr. Hughes by telephone to request details regarding this information, but these efforts have been unsuccessful. A WhatsApp message was also sent to his cellphone. Mr. Hughes later responded via WhatsApp but declined to provide any details, stating that he needs to protect the sources of his information.
The Guyana Police Force wishes to advise the public that it will be closely monitoring the funeral proceedings. We also echo the appeal of the Younge family for a dignified and peaceful funeral.
Anyone found in breach of the law during the funeral, or who in any way attempts to disrupt the proceedings or instigate unrest, will be arrested and charged.
We urge all citizens to respect the solemnity of the occasion and to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a peaceful farewell for Adrianna Younge, in accordance with the wishes of her family.
