One day after young Mezona Ronaldo reportedly died from injuries sustained while cooking, her reputed husband, Kevin Cadogan, who was also injured in the incident, has succumbed.

Police confirmed that Cadogan, who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), died from his injuries at about 03:30 hrs today at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

According to a police report, Ronaldo, 20, was reportedly cooking at around 00:30 hrs on Friday when a gas bottle allegedly caught fire, igniting a blaze. Cadogan, 34, sustained severe burns while allegedly attempting to save her.

The police report stated that, despite their injuries, the couple managed to alert Cadogan’s mother, 55-year-old Patricia Williams, who resides in Adventure on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway. Williams told police she was awakened by her son’s cries for help around 01:30 hrs and found both him and Ronaldo with visible burns.

Reports have since emerged disputing this account, suggesting that Ronaldo may have been a victim of abuse.

According to the police, Williams quickly secured a taxi and rushed the pair to the Mackenzie Hospital. They were later transferred to the GPHC for advanced treatment.

Ronaldo succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical attention on Friday, while Cadogan died today.

Police are investigating the incident.
