Street lights and security cameras will be installed at strategic locations in Region Three, President Dr Irfaan Ali assured residents during a recent meeting at the Goed Fortuin Housing Scheme.
“Everyone wants to live in a secure environment. You want to live in an environment in which you can trust the drivers to do what is right when they drive on the road and not kill your family and friends… I want to assure you that whether you are from Parfait, Goed Fortuin, or surrounding areas in this NCD, we want to assure you that we have launched a programme where we will be putting in lights on every single street, every single pole, and on every highway,” the President stated.

Meanwhile, the authorities have recorded just over 90 instances of speeding by drivers as of last Sunday, signalling that the automated traffic ticketing system is beginning to register in the minds of vehicle operators.
During the meeting, President Ali noted that while over 275 cases of speeding were recorded on the first night of the system’s implementation, that number had decreased to 98 as of last Sunday.
“We’re going to expand that electronic ticketing system here on the highway in Region Three to keep you safe, your children safe, your family safe,” the Head of State added.

The President emphasised that investment in such systems is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to incorporate technology into the country’s safety and security infrastructure. He pledged the expansion of these services under the Safe Community, Safe Country programme into the Region Three area.
