NASA’s Berkeley Innovation Forum 2026 will be held in Guyana in January. President Dr Irfaan Ali made this announcement during a community meeting in Region Three on Sunday, describing it as “things that we wished that is upon us now… that is searching for us now.”

President Ali recently attended the Berkeley Innovation Forum 2025 at the NASA Ames Research Center in California, United States of America.

While delivering the feature address, he proposed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to accelerate equitable economic growth, reduce disparities, and address key global challenges.

He emphasised that the Fifth Industrial Revolution (5IR), which focuses on human-AI collaboration, may arrive sooner than expected. According to Ali, nations can leverage this critical tool to transform sectors such as healthcare, education, and climate mitigation.

During his visit, President Ali was also presented with the prestigious Global Leadership Award for Open Innovation 2024 by the University of California, Berkeley. The award recognises his visionary leadership in promoting environmental sustainability and inclusive economic development on a global scale. It was presented at the NASA Ames Research Center during the ongoing Berkeley Innovation Forum 2025.
