Man, 24, dies in Marudi Trail accident

Devon Williams, 24, of Aishalton Village, Deep South Rupununi, Region Nine, died in an accident on the Marudi Trail on Monday.

According to a police report, around 01:00 hrs, Williams was riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend on the Marudi Trail. After dropping her off at her camp, he left to pick up his stepson. During this journey, he allegedly lost control and fell onto the road, sustaining injuries to his head and body.

Around 04:00 hrs, a public-spirited citizen found Williams and transported him to the Aishalton District Hospital. There, he was examined and treated by a doctor, who immediately referred him to the Lethem Regional Hospital. He was transported via ambulance.

Upon arrival at Lethem Hospital around 13:30 hrs, Williams was reexamined and treated for head injuries. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

His body is currently at the Lethem Regional Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
