The streets of Georgetown burst into a vibrant display of colour and music today as children showcased their creativity during the annual Children’s Costume and Float Parade, hosted by the Ministry of Education.

Under the theme “Expressing Culture and Creativity as One Guyana,” young revellers transformed Camp and Lamaha streets with their energy and colourful costumes, dancing to lively rhythms as they made their way to the National Park.

The children’s enthusiasm captivated not only their parents and onlookers but also the Minister of Education, who joined in the excitement, dancing alongside them.

Bright colours, feathers, sequins, and beads sparkled in the sunlight as breathtaking floats passed by, depicting Guyana’s diverse heritage. From the mighty Kaieteur Falls to intricate Amerindian designs and the Kingston Seawall Bandstand, each float reflected the nation’s cultural richness.

Parents and spectators waved their Guyanese flags with pride, cheering for the children’s stunning performances.

“The colours are definitely bright out here, but I’m glad to see the children in their costumes. I’m waiting to see my son pass with his school because he is ‘Mashing’ with them,” said one proud and excited parent.

The event is one of many that unite Guyanese, celebrating the nation’s rich cultural diversity and shared heritage.
