Vendor found with narcotics during Stabroek Market raid

Kevin Evans, 26, a vendor from ‘C’ Field, Sophia, was taken into custody on Wednesday evening after police discovered 476 grams of suspected cannabis in his possession during a raid at Stabroek Market.

Police ranks from Regional Division 4A, led by an Assistant Superintendent, conducted the raid at the Stabroek Market tarmac, targeting a stall occupied by Evans. During the search, officers found several zip-lock bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Upon further inspection, they also discovered a plastic bag containing additional cannabis. Evans was shown the suspected narcotics found at his stall, and he admitted ownership. He was subsequently informed of the offence committed, cautioned, and arrested.

Evans was later escorted to the Stabroek Market Police Outpost, where the narcotics were weighed in his presence. He remains in police custody and is expected to be formally charged.
