Brutus withdraws lawsuit against police tribunal

Former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Calvin Brutus, has withdrawn a lawsuit he filed against a Police Service Commission Discipline Tribunal, which was appointed to investigate alleged acts of misconduct during his tenure.

According to court documents, the withdrawal was made on Wednesday.

Brutus had challenged the tribunal’s appointment, arguing that he was already before the court facing more than 200 criminal charges related to financial crimes. The tribunal concluded its work on February 5, recommending the termination of his services from the force.

The withdrawal notice stated that the matter, which was filed on January 27, 2025, was “hereby withdrawn and wholly discontinued.”

Brutus has maintained his innocence regarding the charges against him.
