Seamstress accused of fraud granted $80,000 bail

Uriana Scott, a 26-year-old seamstress of Lot 88 David Rose Street, Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, was on Tuesday charged with obtaining money under false pretence.

She appeared before Magistrate Rondel Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where she was formally charged. Scott pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $80,000.

Her charge stems from a police investigation into computer-related fraud, in which she allegedly obtained money under false pretence from Marvin Peters. The alleged incident occurred on February 2, 2025.

The case has been adjourned until March 5, 2025.
