Corentyne security officer arrested with marijuana at Bartica

Mohan Mooloo, 23, a security officer from Number 40 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, is in custody after he was allegedly caught with 49 grams of marijuana by the police on Tuesday.

 

According to the police, officers from Regional Division 7 were carrying out duties at the Bartica Ferry Stelling when, at around 18:00 hours, they observed him acting suspiciously.

 

The officers then approached and questioned him, and he identified himself.

 

Following a consented body search and search of his belongings, the police reported that a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems, suspected to be cannabis, was found in a black side bag in his possession.

 

Mooloo was then informed of the offence, cautioned, and subsequently escorted to the Bartica Police Station, where the suspected narcotic was weighed, packaged, sealed, and lodged by the police.

 

He is expected to be charged shortly.
