Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues has affirmed that she will not succumb to “blackmail” as she denied allegations of being “given” a property in the US purportedly in exchange for land in Guyana.
In a statement issued on her official Facebook page on February 5, 2025, the minister said it was brought to her attention that the allegation was made on the platform of a known social media personality but was quickly removed.
“First of all, the allegation is a complete fabrication, and the person who made the allegation was fully aware that it is untrue when she made the post, and so she quickly removed the post after less than an hour,” Minister Rodrigues said.
According to the minister, she will not succumb to any attempts of being “blackmailed” or “threatened,” as she alleged that this was not the first of such attempts by the social media personality to tarnish her reputation.
“The public should make their own decision. What I will say, however, is that no one will try to tarnish my reputation or disparage the work I have dedicated my life to these past few years without a defense from me. The thousands of people I have helped, directly and indirectly, know my passion for, and commitment to this job. My principles are unshakable,” she said.
The minister went on to state that she will be consulting her attorneys.
“… there are far more important matters that require my attention…. My work to improve the lives of every Guyanese, living in Guyana, continues unabated. I am consulting with my attorneys on the way forward,” Minister Rodrigues said.
