More than 200 solar panels were distributed to residents of Hosororo, Region One, on Tuesday under the Hinterland Electrification Programme.
The initiative aims to provide renewable energy to hinterland communities, enhancing energy security and improving the quality of life for residents in remote areas.
The distribution exercise was led by Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal and targeted residents who did not benefit from the initial distribution exercise. While the region already has access to electricity, the solar panels are intended to provide more reliable energy to hundreds of households, ensuring better support for daily activities and educational development.

During the engagement, residents also raised concerns about the water supply in the area. Minister Croal announced that to enhance water supply within the community, a new system is being developed.
He added that two secondary schools in the area will be equipped with dedicated water supply systems to ensure improved learning environments for students.
The distribution of solar systems is expected to continue across various communities in the region over the next two days.
