Defending champion Patanjilee Persaud takes a narrow lead into Sunday’s final round of the National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) Tour #2, with the title still open to four players.
The final, backed by Promotech and Danny’s Auto Sales, will be played at Lusignan Golf Course, where Persaud is bidding to become the first player to retain the NTFGL crown.
Persaud leads on 19 points, with Maxim Mangra and Anand Persaud tied on 18 and Joseph Szeplaki two points back on 17. All four are expected to be paired together in the marquee group for the final round.
Persaud’s title defence stumbled early in Tour #2 before the two-time Suriname Open winner found form late in the competition. He scored seven points in Round 6, then carded a net 65 in Round 7 for the maximum 10 points.
That round came after Rohan Albert had set the pace with a net 66, including a net 31 on the front nine.
Persaud matched that with a net 31 on the back nine, finishing a stroke clear to take maximum points. Combined with his Round 6 tally, the 17-point haul over two rounds carried him into the overall lead.
Persaud will look to complete the turnaround on September 13, though with just two points covering the top four, the championship remains unresolved going into the final round.
The event, backed by Promotech and Danny’s Auto Sales, is free and open to members of the public.
