More than 400 women-led businesses are expected to participate in the sixth edition of WeLift – Guyana’s largest women’s exposition – scheduled for March 6–8 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, will showcase a wide range of products and services from women entrepreneurs across the country.
Participants say the exposition provides valuable opportunities for business growth and networking.
Joydevi Seeram, owner of the natural skincare company Be Beautiful, said the expo helped expand her business.
“In 2021, I had the opportunity to participate in the first WeLift. That is where my business grew, and it opened many doors of opportunity for me,” she said. “This year, many other women-owned businesses and I will be at WeLift, so come out and support us.”
Organisers say this year’s event will feature a variety of products and services highlighting the creativity and innovation of women entrepreneurs.
Among the featured businesses is One Fuh The Road Gy, a mobile cocktail bar offering bartending services for public and private events.
An entrepreneur attached to the business said the expo offers small businesses significant exposure and opportunities to build partnerships.
“You have people from across the board coming to WeLift – international banks, ministries and other small entrepreneurs that you can collaborate with,” the entrepreneur said.
Nations Inc. will return as a major sponsor, with director Pam O’Toole encouraging women, particularly small business owners, to attend.
