The Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee (JJTRC), in partnership with Banks DIH Limited, has unveiled the highly anticipated provisional race programme for Sunday, 1 February 2026, at the prestigious Port Mourant Turf Club.
This electrifying event kicks off the 2026 Guyana Cup Nomination Series and is already generating excitement throughout the local racing community.
Dubbed the Banks Classic/Guyana Cup Nomination Series, this spectacular race day boasts a whopping $12,750,000 purse spread across a dazzling 10-race card, making it one of the richest days on the local racing calendar.
The star attraction is Race 1, the prestigious Banks DIH Classic (Open), a thrilling one-mile race with a total purse of $3,750,000. With a first prize of $2,000,000 up for grabs, it is set to attract Guyana’s elite horses and stables. But there is more: the top two finishers will secure spots in the coveted Guyana Cup final, while the winner will enjoy a remarkable 100 per cent free entry into Guyana Cup Day.
February 1 promises to be the most exhilarating nomination day of the series, featuring promoter-added bonus money, free-entry incentives for winners, and substantial purses across various classes. In addition, trainers and jockeys stand to gain $500,000 in bonuses for qualifying two horses throughout the nomination days.
