The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and the Guyana Tourism Authority condemned an attack on international visitor Antony D’Oliveira, host of the Jumps Travel Documentary YouTube channel.
In a joint release, the agencies described the incident as “wholly unacceptable,” saying it ran counter to Guyana’s reputation for hospitality, safety, and respect.
They stated that the safety of all visitors and residents remains a top priority and vowed to work with law enforcement, tourism stakeholders, and local communities to maintain a secure environment.
The authorities called on the Guyana Police Force to conduct a thorough and swift investigation and to apprehend the person responsible. They extended best wishes to D’Oliveira and stressed that the matter should be addressed with urgency.
