Two Brazilian miners die in pit collapse

Two Brazilian gold miners died on Tuesday after a sand collapse trapped them inside a mining pit at “S” Bend Backdam, Chenapou, North Pakaraimas, police said.

The victims, identified as Cleumiton Da Silva Santos, 37, and Antonio Filho, 44, were retrieved motionless, while other workers managed to escape, police said.

The bodies remain at the remote site, with arrangements being made to transport them to Mahdia District Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
