Life has improved and Guyana has changed positively under the current government, Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips told supporters on Sunday.

Speaking to a large gathering at Sideline Dam, Region Three, Phillips said the administration’s development agenda is tied to the trust and support of citizens.

“We respect your vote,” he declared, adding, “Your vote, along with our commitment to fulfilling our promises, is what brings us here today — thanking you, and asking for another five years.”

The prime minister pointed to advances in healthcare, education and public security, noting that 12 new hospitals, 75 primary schools and 67 nursery schools have been built over the last five years. Training programmes for teachers and healthcare workers have also expanded, he said.

“Our economy continues to grow, and with that growth, we are ensuring that more high-quality services are provided free of cost to the people,” Phillips said. “We are also working to make sure more money stays in your pocket.”

He also cited new police stations and the nationwide rollout of CCTV surveillance systems as part of efforts to improve security.

“Our progress is your progress,” he said. “Let’s keep building together.”
