Police arrested one suspect after a robbery under arms on the Kitty Seawall, Georgetown, in which a 25-year-old accountant was critically injured.
Police in Regional Division 4 ‘A’ said the incident occurred at about 02:50 hrs on Monday when two accountants — aged 25 and 30 — were walking along the southern side of the Kitty Seawall Road, heading west, when they were confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.
Investigators said the suspects approached the men and demanded money. During the confrontation, one of the accountants pushed the armed suspect and attempted to flee. He was chased, fell to the ground, and was stabbed several times before both suspects fled on foot in an easterly direction along the seawall.
Police said the injured accountant was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was admitted with a stab wound to the right side of his chest. His condition is listed as critical.
Using footage from the Government of Guyana Safe City Initiative cameras, police arrested a 24-year-old mason from ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, who is in custody assisting with investigations. Checks are ongoing for the second suspect.
