Relatives of a 36-year-old man are calling for a full investigation into his death at Capoey Lake, in the Essequibo region, on March 26.

Dale Allicock, also known as “Rico,” died after being found injured at his home, according to family members, who say the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

They said Allicock had returned home from work and encountered his partner socialising and drinking with relatives. What happened next is uncertain, they added.

According to the family, Allicock’s mother, a headmistress at JC Chandisingh School, was alerted by a neighbour that something was wrong. She and other relatives went to the house and found him lying at the bottom of a staircase in a pool of blood. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Relatives have raised concerns about possible foul play, citing what they described as inconsistencies in the account given by his partner, who was detained for 72 hours and later released.

They said the woman told investigators that Allicock injured himself after striking a louvre window, causing a cut to his upper left hand. However, family members said they saw no evidence of a damaged window at the scene.

They also questioned why help was not sought immediately, alleging that it took about 90 minutes before neighbours became aware of the situation and contacted relatives.

The family further expressed frustration over delays in receiving the post-mortem report. Although the examination was conducted on March 30, they said they were told on April 7 that the document had not yet been collected from Georgetown.

Allicock was known along the Essequibo Coast for his artwork, relatives said.

His family is urging authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances of his death.
