A total of 174 students from the University of Guyana’s Faculty of Education and Humanities have been named to the Dean’s Honour Roll in recognition of academic excellence at the Turkeyen Campus.
Students qualify for the Dean’s Honour Roll by achieving a GPA of 3.4 or higher, a standard described as a significant academic milestone.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin urged the students not to become complacent, encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence as they progress into spaces where their voices will be heard and valued.
Ministry of Education Chief Planning Officer Mischka White Griffith said the achievement reflects hard work and dedication, noting that earning a place on the Honour Roll is no simple feat.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities Bonita Hunter also commended the students for their performance and commitment.
Speaking to Ignite News, Honour Roll student Sandya Chesney-Trim described her journey as challenging, particularly while balancing family responsibilities. She said she remained committed to her studies even during pregnancy, noting that discipline and sacrifice were key to her success.
The university said the recognition underscores the importance of determination and academic effort among its students.
